Everyone really can draw dinosaurs using a line by line method

created by this celebrated public school art teacher/author

“I am familiar with “how to draw” books and Line by Line by Cindy Mauro Reisenauer is by far the most succinct and easiest to follow of them all. This book not only teaches a young child how to execute a drawing but also describes materials and basic information to ready a budding artist…I have taught children from preschool age to young adults in college and would have used

Ms. Reisenauer’s book if it had been available.”

~ Frieda Gates, author/illustrator

and former director of the

SCBWI New York Illustrators Conference

Cindy Mauro Reisenauer has taught literally thousands of students how to draw. Over a fourteen-year period, she devised and tested her unique method of art instruction in her New York public classrooms with what she calls “amazing” results. Now, in her new book Line By Line Everyone Can Draw Dinosaurs, countless thousands more can use this same method.

Line by Line Everyone Can Draw Dinosaurs explains the process of art production

in an easy-to-follow, step-by-step, and uniquely thorough fashion. “Typically,” says Reisenauer, “‘how to draw’ books skip huge sections of information that leave the audience wondering how to get from one step to the next, but not this book!” She explains, “Using my method, students ages five to twelve, with varying degrees of cognitive ability, create incredible drawings and have a lot of fun, too.”

Divided into two sections, part one of Line By Line Everyone Can Draw Dinosaurs outlines the creative and decision-making process involved in art production and offers drawing tips that artists of all ages will appreciate, such as, “Draw your lines lightly in pencil. Lighter lines are easier to erase and less likely to leave marks on the paper.” Reisenauer also introduces readers to the elements of composing a picture and the use of various art materials such as markers, pastels, colored pencils, crayons, and watercolor paints.

Part two of Line By Line Everyone Can Draw Dinosaurs introduces five well-known dinosaur characters – t-rex, brachiosaurus, triceratops, pteranodon, and velociraptor – with a list of quick facts and shows how to draw them in a step-by-step process that enables readers/artists to easily follow along and enjoy great success.

A perfect addition to any natural museum, book, or gift shop where dinosaurs are featured attractions or art supplies are sold, Reisenauer notes that Line By Line Everyone Can Draw Dinosaurs is the first title in her expected ongoing series. Line by Line: Everyone Can Draw Dinosaurs

By Cindy Mauro Reisenauer

Line by Line: Everyone Can Draw Dinosaurs is a treat! This book will keep busy elementary students engaged long enough to learn how to pronounce "brachiosaurus" and "velociraptor" flawlessly, while creating wonderful drawings to boot.

Cindy Mauro Reisenauer walks children through basic drawing tools, composition tips, and tips on how to shade and add color to their artwork. She then introduces young readers to five interesting dinosaurs as she models how to draw them line-by-line. Each dinosaur includes a "facts" page with great information. One of the things we really liked about the line-by-line drawing method modeled by Cindy was that kids are shown how to draw each part of the dinosaur without adding extraneous lines that later require erasing.

This great book can be easily managed independently by early readers. It's a great book to bring along on a trip to entertain and engage young minds while traveling. This book would also make a wonderful gift. I highly recommend this book, and I plan to look for other titles by this author. Happy drawing!
